Last Thursday night, UAB imprived their record to 16-15 (8-7 in C’USA) by downing Marshall in straight sets (25-21, 25-21, 25-16).

With this win, UAB has taken four out of the last five matches against the Herd.

“Our offense came around tonight, and we took care of the ball well,” UAB head coach Kerry Messersmith told Media Relations. “I like the way we bounced back after losing to Marshall last week.”

The first set was an offensive battle for both teams, but UAB pulled off the rallies to secure the first set.

Andrea Lalic amounted seven of her 14 total kills on the night.

The second set seemed more defensively oriented, as UAB held Marshall under .100 hitting percentage.

UAB jumped out to an early lead and kept Marshall from ever really making an attempt for the set.

Patty Paniagua tallied four blocks in this set alone, ultimately reaching a season high five blocks in one game. UAB took the set 25-21.

In the final set, Marshall fell apart, committing ten hitting errors and allowing UAB to hold off a Marshall comeback.
UAB finished the set by scoring the final seven points of the match, finishing 25-16.

Overall, it was a positive win for UAB, who managed a successful avenging of the previous loss, earlier this season.
Marshall struggled hitting wise, with 24 errors on the night, compared to UAB’s seven.

Highlighting the match, was Allison Woods who notched her tenth double-double with 29 assists and 14 digs.
