News Review 002: Downtown Drive-In creator Mike Boody

By on June 11, 2012

This week former UAB student Mike Boody stops by to chat with Mark Trammell about his Downtown Drive-In. The Downtown Drive-In is a new project to bring movie viewings to downtown Birmingham. As their web site says:

Make no mistake, this ain’t the place for watching “Schindler’s List” for the twenty-third time and analyzing Speilberg’s use of steady-cam over handheld. This is the place to sit around with friends or strangers — either on the hood of your car, in some lawn chairs you brought, or from the comfort of your own air-conditioned Honda paradise — and watch a flick that simply, and perhaps even guiltily, entertains.

About Mark Trammell

Mark Trammell is the resident entertainment critic at UAB, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he is also a Graduate Student and does a vid-cast movie review show. He is a life-long fan of films and has a pretty whacked-out, all-over-the-place movie collection that would give most sane people pause. He loves horror movies and Disney flicks and isn't entirely sure there is a difference. He one day hopes to put his money where his mouth is and inflict his own perverse vision on society, entirely so that he can tell people who ask: "If you think you can do better, why don't you make a movie yourself?" to shut up.
