Retirees association to revisit UAB memories

New to UAB community is the UAB Retirees Association (UABRA), an organization connecting all UAB retirees and employees, which is set to meet on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012.

A “Sharing Our UAB Memories” Fall Seminar will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the main floor auditorium at the Homewood Public Library.

All attendees, including UAB retirees and their family, faculty and students, are welcome to share memories of their time at UAB during open floor sharing.

Dr. Julius Linn, the new UABRA President, said he is looking forward to hearing these stories and plans to share one of his own.

Past UABRA presidents, retired UAB surgeon Dr. Alan Dimick and retired UAB administrator Dr. Jack Bradford, were part of the group of UAB retirees who formed the UABRA.

There will be a couple informative discussions and philanthropic opportunities occurring from active UAB members in the Birmingham community.

UAB Professor of Communications Larry Powell, PhD, an expert on elections will be discussing national and Alabama elections with an eye towards issues affecting retirees

Graham Boettcher, PhD, the Curator of American Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art will share about the Norman Rockwell America exhibit at the museum.

Amanda Dubois, manager of Volunteer/Guest Services at UAB Hospital, will talk about volunteer opportunities at UAB.

The Homewood Public Library is located on 1721 Oxmoor Road.

Refreshments will be available to attendees.
