USGA budget bill passing goes smoothly

Undergraduate Student Government Association (USGA) met on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. to decide to amend, accept, or reject the budget bill.
A budget of $57,483 is available for the spring semester, which is less than the fall 2012 semester of $86,070.40.
“The biggest obstacle we face is not having enough money to give every organization the amount they request,” said Adrian Jones, the USGA president. “We have a set budget, and we have to use that accordingly.”
The second part of the budget bill presentation was presented this week by the treasurer and finance committee, further explaining why they gave each organization a certain amount of money.
“Internally, in order for us to keep the office running, some funds are used for office supplies and a monthly stipend for members working at least 20 hours, said Jones. “Some of the things included in our external budget are travel grants which we fund, academic conferences, higher education day and other services offered to students.”
“They could’ve passed the budget bill at the past meeting, but they wanted to take a closer look at the budget bill.” said Jones. “The Senate decided to table it to October 16.”
