Gardendale Shooting

Pastor Terry Greer, 54, allegedly shot his wife, Lisa, 52, and daughter, Suzanna, 18, at the church-owned parsonage on Thursday. Lisa Greer died Friday at UAB Hospital.
Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett preached in all three services at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Sunday morning and offered words of comfort to the audience.
“It’s been a quiet neighborhood for years. It’s an absolute shock. Sad to see something like this happen in the middle of the day,” comments Tripp Larson, who lived three houses down from the shooting.
According to Gardendale police, after Suzanna was injured, she wrestled the gun out of her father’s hand and ran to the neighbor’s house. The neighbors called 911 and reported the shooting.
Lisa and Suzanna were immediately rushed to UAB hospital, and both victims were in critical condition. Investigations are still underway, but currently Greer is charged with murder and attempted murder.
“It’s tough to see [because] he was supposed to be an example in the Church. I can honestly say I didn’t see anything like this coming.”
