Powell to focus on new students, housing

Joshua Powell is focused on making UAB feel like home.
“We need to push for new housing whether we get a stadium in the next few years or not. Atop that we need to have more control in the housing to encourage that the contracts, rules, and regulations are appropriate and increase demand rather than drive it away,” said Powell.

Candidate Kenneth Sutton dreams big

Sophomore Kenneth Sutton may be a dreamer, but he says he admires those who chase their dreams.
A native of Birmingham’s Smithfield Neighborhood and a 2010 graduate of Parker High School, Sutton smiles when he speaks of his dreams for his 2012 USGA presidential bid.
“I want to change the reimbursement system within the USGA,” said Sutton.
Sutton said it would be a positive to allow advances in funding for clubs and organizations that are not as financially sound.

Inocencio Chavez has big ideas for the student body at UAB.
Chavez has been involved with the USGA for one year as a senator for the college of arts and sciences, the largest college on UAB campus. Chavez is running for president of the USGA with hopes of unifying the organization and focusing on student groups.
