The UAB Universities Fighting World Hunger organization brought a tiny amount of the harsh reality facing refugees in a Dadaab refugee camp to the campus Green last week.
This annual event’s purpose is to shed light on the living conditions for those who are forced to live in a refugee camp. The Dadaab refugee camp is home to almost 400,000 refugees, mostly from neighboring Somalia.

Moving like a Cyclotron; UAB installs a particle accelerator for medical imaging

UAB has installed a one-of-a-kind cyclotron, a particle accelerator making medical imaging agents for clinical and research applications.

Approximately one out of every three people will have cancer in their lifetime.
On Friday, April 5th, a team of students and cancer survivors met on the Campus Green to help in the fight against cancer.
The northern half of the Green was lined with team tents and luminarias, forming the walking track that would be marched on for the entirety of the 12 hour event.

On UAB Campus, there are about 10,000 university owned computers, and out of that number, 40 percent are managed by UAB IT.
