The UAB men’s soccer team will hold open tryouts for any currently enrolled students who may be interested in walking on to the men’s soccer team.
The tryouts will be held on UAB’s West Campus Field on February 16 at 3 p.m.
Interested players must be current UAB students and bring necessary paperwork.
Per new NCAA and Conference USA guidelines, students who are interested in trying out must provide proof of a physical within the last six months, as well as a sickle cell tes
Softball ready to start the new season

It’s been a long, cold winter here at UAB. The school is looking out for something to bring this year’s heat. That thing, or sport rather, is softball.
Last season the Blazer ladies ended with a 39-19 record, with a loss of only 5 home games and a 3rd place position in the C-USA rankings.
The sport began in 2000 and is fairly new to UAB, giving the sport just over a decade of play time for the school.

A very cool and collected man, Coach Garrick Mcgee announces UAB’s picks during signing day. Coach McGee announced the newcomers to the UAB program with energy and majesty. UAB serves Marshall payback for home loss

On Wednesday, January 25, UAB traveled to Henderson Center in Huntington, West Virginia in the second match up between the teams this men’s basketball season.
The first game was a nail biter at Bartow Arena, with Marshall coming away victorious 61-59. This game, in large part, followed the same trend. After the Blazer victory at Marshall led by senior forward Cameron Moore, the team faced off against a losing East Carolina squad. The Pirates have lost seven in a row, four straight to the Blazers, and are 0-3 in their last three road games, seemingly an easy win for the Blazers.

Wednesday night was another promising evening for the Lady Blazers, who after a 47-40 success over Tulsa left the women with a 14-5 overall record in the season thus far.
The ladies stormed the court and within a reasonable amount of time had taken over with an 11-0 lead. The first seven went to Amber Jones, who also ended the night with 6 assists and an 11 point final for the game.

Napoleon named on pre-season conference POY

UAB right-handed pitcher Dillon Napoleon was chosen on Thursday to the Preseason All-Conference USA Team.
Napoleon was one of only 15 students named to the preseason all-league team and was one of just four pitchers selected. Napoleon earned C-USA Newcomer of the Year in 2011, the first in Blazer history, after transferring from Heartland C.C., which is located in Normal, Illinois.

Lady Blazers fall to the Blue Raiders

The Lady Blazers of the tennis court headed to Samford Tennis Complex on Saturday to take on the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders.
In Saturday’s match, the Blue Raiders won by sweeping the doubles point and at the bottom of the singles lineup.

Getting to know Garrick McGee and the new UAB Football staff

On November 26, the Blazers took the field for their final game of the 2011 season, and with the season went Head Coach Callaway. But the football blaze wasn’t extinguished yet.
